Overview

In 2026, WHO needs approximately US$ 1 billion to sustain life-saving health services to millions of people in emergencies. An estimated 239 million people face humanitarian need due to conflict, climate shocks and disease outbreaks. The Health Emergency Appeal 2026 sets out WHO’s strategic priorities and funding requirements across 36 health emergencies, including 14 Grade 3 emergencies requiring WHO’s highest level of emergency activation. It highlights WHO’s focus on sharper prioritization, local partnerships and the delivery of essential health services that protect lives and stabilize communities.
