World AMR Awareness Week campaign 2023

Summary of successes, challenges and lessons

Overview

World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) is a global campaign to raise awareness and increase understanding of AMR.

Many new partners and constituencies that were not previously engaged were reached and mobilized for WAAW 2023, including  youth, AMR survivors and parliamentarians. Students and other young people actively participated in global, regional and national discussions. Personal testimony from AMR survivors was well covered on various platforms. The media was engaged more than ever before.

WAAW 2023 was a great success, with extensive engagement of stakeholders and partners around the world. Individuals, communities, media, youth, AMR survivors, health-care professionals, civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians, and policymakers all engaged in meaningful discussions to combat AMR.
