The Global Laboratory Leadership Programme (GLLP) was successfully launched in Tajikistan during an inaugural ceremony held at the Academy of Public Administration in Dushanbe on 26 June 2023. Attendees included representatives from UN agencies, donors and partners (WHO, UNAIDS, USAID, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Local Health System Sustainability project), while 45 prominent Tajik ministry officials also participated in the event.
The programme appointed 8 experienced facilitators who will be responsible for training and mentoring a group of 16 carefully selected participants from both national and subnational levels, including Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province, Sughd, Khatlon, Regions of Republican Subordination and Dushanbe.
This year's curriculum will focus on the essential GLLP competencies of laboratory systems, quality management systems, biosafety and biosecurity, and research. Notably, an anti-corruption policy competency module has been incorporated for the first time. The remaining 5 competencies are scheduled to be completed in 2025.
