In the third in a series of regional executive courses in Human Resources for Health (HRH) leadership and management, WHO/Europe's Health Workforce and Service Delivery (HWD) team is focusing on central Asian countries, with the aim of increasing their leadership capacities for the implementation of WHO/Europe’s Framework for action on the health and care workforce in the WHO European Region 2023–2030. The Framework supports countries to put in place measures to enhance their health and care workforces through 5 pillars: retain and recruit; build supply; optimize performance; plan; and invest.
Participants
This iteration of the executive course is addressed to upper- and mid-level health ministry managers with public health sector roles in primary health care, HRH planning and nursing from the following 5 central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Purpose
The course supports the development of HRH leadership skills, empowering managers to ensure good governance, mobilize multiple stakeholders, and establish the vision and strategies to steward the HRH agenda effectively. This includes focusing on policy and strategy development, information and communication, data interpretation and its application to policy- and decision-making on HRH.
The course curriculum has been adapted to reflect needs relevant to central Asia and supports WHO/Europe’s ongoing country work on HRH in this subregion. The course also reflects WHO’s commitment to supporting these countries through its Roadmap for health and well-being in central Asia (2022–2025).
