Health and Environment Country Scorecards

Including the 2025 edition

Taking action to reduce environmental risks to health is crucial, as it can prevent 24% of all deaths globally.

The Health and environment scorecards aim to provide a quick snapshot of where countries stand on managing six major environmental threats to health: air pollution, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), climate change, exposure to chemicals, radiation, and occupational health. They can assist policy makers to identify priorities and areas in great need of attention and resources.

They are accompanied by a reading guide, which contains additional explanations, the methods and results of the summary score, a set of questions and answers, which links to related guidance to address priority issues.

NB: The scorecards represent an illustrated summary of data published elsewhere, and do not cover all areas of environment, climate change and health. They may not reflect the most recent or additional data that are available in countries.
