Recommendation(s)

When treating people who are dependent on strong prescription opioids (i.e. morphine-like), prescribers can treat with a long acting opioid (such as methadone and buprenorphine) which can be taken once daily, with supervised dispensing if necessary, either for maintenance treatment or for detoxification.
