When to discontinue antiseizure medicine treatment in adults and children

Recommendation(s)

In children and adults with epilepsy, discontinuation of antiseizure medicine treatment might be considered after two seizure-free years. After a two year period, the decision to withdraw or continue antiseizure medicine in an individual who has been seizure free for more than two years, might be made after consideration of relevant clinical, social and personal factors and with the involvement of the person and the family.
