Micronutrient Survey Analyser and other tools

The Micronutrient Survey Analyser is an online tool developed by the Department of Nutrition and Food Safety (WHO), that allows the user to perform comprehensive analysis of micronutrient status survey data for all populations. The analyses are aligned with the updated WHO guidelines on assessing micronutrient status of individuals and populations. The version V.01 of the tool provides results for four biomarker indicators: haemoglobin, ferritin, urinary iodine concentration (UIC) and iron deficiency anaemia (IDA). In the future, the tool will include other micronutrient biomarkers.

Micronutrient Survey Analyser

The Micronutrient Survey Analyser aims to promote best practices on data collection, analyses, and reporting of micronutrients biomarkers. It provides data quality checks which help the interpretation of the data. Currently, it offers the analysis of four indicators: haemoglobin, ferritin, UIC and IDA, taking into consideration their specific adjustments. This is a useful tool for individuals in institutions such as the Ministry of Health, National Statistics Offices, agencies or programs specialized in data collection, research centres, any other institution or key actors responsible for data analysis of micronutrient status indicators. It can particularly aid those who do not have access to standard statistical software to analyse surveys.

Micronutrients database

The Micronutrients Database is an interactive platform with data published in reports and manuscripts on the micronutrient status of populations representative at national level. The database was first developed as part of the Vitamin and Mineral Nutrition Information System (VMNIS) in 1991. After a thorough evaluation of the database from the epidemiologic and public health informatics perspectives, the database has been upgraded and expanded to include 40 indicators of the status of 17 micronutrients or micronutrient-related conditions, covering both deficiency and excess. It also includes estimates at disaggregate levels, such as sex, age, geographic regions, wealth quintiles and maternal education.

Vitamin and Mineral Nutrition Information System (VMNIS)

The Vitamin and Mineral Nutrition Information System (VMNIS), formerly known as the Micronutrient Deficiency Information System (MDIS), was established in 1991 following a request by the World Health Assembly to strengthen surveillance of micronutrient deficiencies at the global level. The Department of Nutrition and Food Safety (WHO) manages the VMNIS through WHO's network of regional and country offices, and in close collaboration with national health authorities.

Nutrition Data Portal

The Nutrition Data Portal is an interactive platform that summarizes nutrition data. The portal aims to facilitate access to data that encompasses several areas of nutrition and related indicators, including micronutrients, child growth and malnutrition, key indicators within the Global Nutrition Monitoring Framework, and nutrition-related health and development data. The portal offers visualization of key nutrition indicators and country profiles, in addition to data search tools.

Nutrition Landscape Information System (NLiS)

Bringing together all existing WHO global nutrition databases dynamically, as well as other existing food and nutrition-related data from partner agencies, NLiS is a web-based tool which provides nutrition and nutrition-related health and development data in the form of automated country profiles and user-defined downloadable data. Data presented in the country profiles are structured by the UNICEF conceptual framework for causes of malnutrition and intend to give an overview snapshot of a country's nutrition, health, and development at the national level.

Global Nutrition Targets Tracking Tool

The Global Nutrition Targets Tracking Tool supports Member States and other data stakeholders to set national targets and monitor progress towards the six global nutrition targets endorsed by the World Health Assembly in 2012 for 2025 and 2030, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

e-Library of Evidence for Nutrition Actions (eLENA)

The WHO e-Library of Evidence for Nutrition Actions (eLENA) is an online library of evidence-informed guidelines for an expanding list of nutrition interventions. It is a single point of reference for the latest nutrition guidelines, recommendations and related information.

eCatalogue of indicators for micronutrient programmes

The WHO/CDC electronic catalogue of indicators for micronutrient programmes, referred to as the “eCatalogue of Indicators” intends to contain a non-comprehensive register of standard process and impact indicators for tracking the performance of public health programmes implementing micronutrient interventions.

Global database on the Implementation of Food and Nutrition Action (GIFNA)

The Global database on the Implementation of Food and Nutrition Action (GIFNA) is an interactive platform for sharing standardized information on food and nutrition policies and actions.
