Development of Country Profiles and monitoring of the pharmaceutical situation in countries
Overview
Information on the pharmaceutical sector is crucial for informing medicine policy and advocacy work. A comprehensive assessment of the pharmaceutical sector helps to determine what the gaps are in order to design effective interventions and allows evaluation of the the impact of interventions over time. WHO has developed tools to measure key aspects of the pharmaceutical sector and systematically monitor the progress of efforts to improve access to essential medicines. WHO collaborates with Regional and Country Offices to support Member States in the collection, analysis and use of pharmaceutical sector data.
