Overview
Welcome to the Training Toolkit on Substandard and Falsified Medical Products (SFMP) !
SFMPs pose a significant risk to health systems worldwide. Education is a key function in the prevention pillar of WHO’s holistic strategy to prevent-detect-respond to SFMP. The health workforce must be involved and have received adequate training to implement this strategic function.
This Toolkit helps to standardize training on the topic of SFMP. It includes a competency framework, curriculum guide, trainer’s guide, and technical resources, all tailored to meet the diverse needs of health service providers, management personnel, and regulators.
Effective regulatory systems are the backbone of well-functioning health systems. Defective systems allow SFMP to go undetected and unreported – subsequently harming patients and undermining all public health investments. The Toolkit is part of the WHO's Health Products Regulation and Prequalification Learning Catalogue: a centralized platform of learning resources, designed to help countries build stronger regulatory systems.
This Toolkit is closely aligned with the WHO global competency framework for regulators of medicines. By integrating these competencies, the toolkit supports the development of a skilled regulatory workforce capable of addressing the challenges posed by SFMPs.
