Building capacity of national programmes to implement WHO recommended strategies

WHO publishes guides and tools to support translation of WHO recommendations into practice. These guides are intended for use by national programmes and partners to support planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating activities to achieve elimination of LF as a public health problem. WHO developed a toolkit to assist programs in implementing and strengthening capacity to deliver Morbidity Management and Disability Prevention (MMDP) services. Also, modules are available to help national LF elimination programmes implement the WHO recommended Transmission Assessment Survey to help determine when to stop mass drug administration. Furthermore, in collaboration with WHO Regional Offices, regional and national workshops are held to build up the skills of health workers within the health ministries of endemic countries and enable them to implement the recommended strategies.
