Overview

WHO supports the generation of data on measuring the “proportion of health facilities that have a core set of relevant essential medicines available and affordable on a sustainable basis” for reporting the SDG indicator 3.b.3.

WHO also provides technical support for rational use of medicines, measuring consumption of antibiotics, antimicrobial stewardship, combating antimicrobial resistance, rapid assessment for essential medicines situation analysis etc.

Key facts

  • 69.4 % of the out of pocket payment in Bangladesh is on medicines and medical products.
  • 98% of the country’s needs of essential medicines are manufactured locally.
