Promoting quality health services

Overview

Quality of health services is a critical component towards advancing universal health coverage. Health service delivery requires a deliberate focus on quality of health services and should aim to deliver effective, safe, people-centred health service that is timely, equitable, integrated and efficient. Quality of care, especially patient safety, is essential to creating trust in health service.

WHO promotes the implementation of the National Strategic Plan on Quality of Care in Bangladesh by providing technical assistance in the development of infection control guidelines, mapping standard treatment guidelines, drafting a comprehensive referral system across health facilities in the public sector. WHO also supports the development of patient safety strategy and advocates adaption of incident reporting and imparts capacity building on haemovigilance.
