Supporting the implementation of the Essential Service Package
Overview
Bangladesh aspires to advance towards Universal health coverage through strengthening access to primary health services for all without suffering financial hardship.
An Essential Health Service Package (ESP) consisting of a list of health services that are provided at different tiers of public health facilities. Aligning PHC response to the communicable and non-communicable burden of diseases, the ESP was updated in 2016 for implementation during the 4th Health, Poulation and Nutrition Sector Program period (2017-2022) and beyond.
WHO country office of Bangladesh provides technical assitance on national capacity building, revising and costing the ESP. WHO coordinates and monitors the implemntation of ESP in collaboration with the government and the development partners. WHO also supports evidence generation to inform the effective implementation of ESP.
