Objective of the programme
The health sector strategy builds on Bangladesh’s long-term commitment to safeguard and promote the health of every population group, accelerate equitable access to essential services, and maintain momentum toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030. It aligns national priorities with global frameworks (SDGs, Sendai Framework, One Health) and leverages lessons learned from previous sector cycles. WHO continuously monitors the hazards and public health events to support the sector in the timely response to public health needs while producing timely situation reports and evidence-based guidance (from mortality trend analyses to family planning updates and guidelines) to inform strategic response.
WHO operates in Cox’s Bazar in support of the Government of Bangladesh and in line with the Joint Response Plan for the Rohingya Humanitarian Crisis 2025. As such, WHO leads Health Sector coordination and provides technical expertise for the response in the area of health.
