Highlights

The Health Economics Unit (HEU) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) successfully organized a five-day Flagship Course on Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) supported by the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Bank, USAID supported Health Finance & Governance project and JPG School of Public Health (JPGSPH) of BRAC University. This flagship course was organized based on the lessons and experience identified from organizing the first Bangladesh tailored course where WHO provided technical assistance.

It aimed to enhance the capacity of UHC stakeholders to analyze key issues on health system performance; to effectively engage in policy dialogue on UHC; to develop evidence-based and realistic policies; to monitor results in the reform process and to support the goal of UHC; and build a health system that will lead to advancing health status, financial risk protection and citizen satisfaction.

The course was specifically designed for policy makers, midlevel technical government officers in health and other relevant sectors, senior managers in the private sector, civil society, professional organizations, academia and development partners who are engaged in the process of national health system reforms.
