Health Minister’s National Award 2018

The Health Minister’s National Award 2018 recognizes and promotes best practices in the Bangladesh health system. On the 7 of April 2019, the award has been given to twenty seven out of 510 public health facilities and health offices.

Through this initiative of the Management Information System (MIS) unit from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), performances of health facilities and health offices at different tiers of the system are measured, scored, ranked and, finally, the best ones are recognized.

WHO Bangladesh

Launched in 2014, this annual non-financial scheme incentivises health managers to improve practices within available resources in the system, stimulate innovative management, the generation of better results and enhance performance.

The initiative progressively evolved and an online system for measuring and scoring is now publicly accessible through a real time dashboard.

WHO Bangladesh

The World Health Organization (WHO), Health Information System (HiSP) Bangladesh and UNICEF supported the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in developing and implementing this scheme.

The Department for International Development (DFID) of the UK Government supported the scheme, including the Health Minister’s National Award 2018.

WHO is committed to work with the MOHFW and development partners to support this initiative for improving the quality of health care services in Bangladesh.
