Overview
- Dengue cases among refugees in Cox's Bazar rose steadily, with over 1,110 cases reported in May 2025 – nearly triple the number from the previous month.
- Five new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in camps, signalling a surge in COVID-19 transmission, followed by the global upsurge reported by the WHO.
- An increased number of unexplained febrile illnesses (unexplained fever >101 °F) was detected that spread to refugee camps and the host population with more than 5,000 cases reported so far. Investigation is currently ongoing with the leadership of the WHO.
- Two diphtheria cases were reported in May 2025, indicating a resurgence of transmission that was previously under control
