WHO Cox’s Bazar: Rohingya emergency crisis - Situation Report: January 2024
Situation report
Overview
Coordination and Leadership
As the Health Sector lead agency, following the introduction of the General Health Card in August 2023, the average number of outpatient department (OPD) consultations for Rohingya individuals per month
decreased by approximately 12%. This trend seems to be associated with patients seeking duplicate services. Interagency collaborative monitoring and supportive supervision in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) at healthcare facilities: To ensure the readiness of health facilities to provide Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC) and Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmONC) services, and improve the quality of SRH services, WHO has played a role in establishing an interagency monitoring framework in partnership with the Sexual and Reproductive Health Working Group (SRH WG). A dedicated SRH Technical Team (SRH TT) has devised a customized Supportive Supervision Checklist tailored to assess SRH activities, with the Terms of Reference (ToR) also being finalized. It is anticipated that quarterly monitoring conducted by SRH TT members will commence in March 2024.
To enhance readiness for interventions and ensure the integration of PRSEAH across WHO Health Emergency Preparedness and Response, the WSO PRSM team, in consultation with the WCO Readiness Checklist team, provided comments and inputs to the PSEAiE Readiness Checklist tool. The tool provides an in-depth readiness assessment for interventions and integration of PRSEAH across WHO Health Emergency Preparedness and Response. PSEAH outcomes measure indicators around Leadership and Accountability, Prevention, Safe and Accessible Reporting, Victim support services, and the PSEA Network plan of action.
