At the RODOG (Russian Society of Paediatric Oncologists and Haematologists) Congress 2025, WHO/Europe representatives will join paediatric oncology and haematology experts from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the wider WHO European Region and beyond. This regional meeting brings together clinicians, researchers, policy-makers and international partners to discuss the most pressing challenges and emerging opportunities in childhood cancer care.
WHO’s contribution will emphasize the importance of cross- and intra-regional cooperation and expanding professional training to improve access to early diagnosis and quality care. This is in alignment with WHO’s broader work on cancer and digital health solutions, including partnerships with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Princess Máxima Center, SIOP-Europe, the Islamic Development Bank and emerging regional academic hubs, such as the Russian Federation’s Eurasian School of Paediatric Oncologists and Haematologists and Uzbekistan’s International Academic Hub, among others.
Key themes of the 2025 scientific programme
- Strengthening systemic work in paediatric oncology and haematology, including national standards, clinical guidelines, workforce development and medicines availability.
- Epidemiological research across CIS and central Asian countries, as well as improved systems for patient registration and monitoring.
- Contemporary palliative care approaches.
- Multidisciplinary treatment strategies for paediatric and adolescent cancers.
