Multisectoral Partnerships for Environment & Health (MPE)

The programme on Multisectoral Partnerships for Environment and Health (MPE) provides an intergovernmental cross-sectoral policy platform that promotes the integration of health and environment policies in the WHO European Region.  MPE serves as the secretariat for the European Environment and Health Process (EHP) and the Transport, Health and Environment Pan-European Programme (THE PEP), promoting coordination and cooperation between these 2 platforms. THE PEP is serviced jointly with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

MPE also fosters the establishment of new partnerships and strengthens existing ones with sectoral ministries and authorities, as well as with relevant intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations, subnational and local authorities, and subregional mechanisms and initiatives. One example is the EHP Partnerships, an implementation mechanism within the EHP that brings together countries and partners with a shared interest in a specific thematic area.
