National TB prevalence surveys seminar, Lille, France, 27 October 2011
The WHO Global Task Force of TB Impact Measurement has made major efforts to facilitate national TB prevalence surveys in Asia and Africa since 2008. By 2010, substantial progress was evident. Very intense Task Force seminars were held in 2009 during the Union Conference in Cancun (focused on the development and expert review of survey protocols) and in 2010 in Berlin (focused on survey planning and preparations).
In 2011, following major progress in several countries, the focus was on three topics: survey results; data management; and data analysis. The seminar also included an overview of global progress in the design and implementation of prevalence surveys, presentation of results and lessons learnt from major national surveys completed in recent years, and lectures by experts on data management and analysis with country examples
