Economically viable alternatives for tobacco growers and workers (article 17 18 of WHO FCTC)
The WHO FCTC Article 17 relates to the ‘Provision of support for economically viable alternative activities’ and Article 18 relates to the ‘Protection of the environment and the health of persons’
These Articles recommend that Parties shall promote economically viable alternatives for tobacco workers, growers and, as the case may be, individual sellers and agree to have due regard to the protection of the environment and the health of persons in relation to the environment in respect of tobacco cultivation and manufacture within their respective territories.
