The #MusicForLIFE concert has been jointly curated by the World Health Organization (WHO), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (Government of India) and Cancer Patients Aid Association to call for a #TobaccoFreeGeneration. The songs have been shot by celebrities and artists from their respective homes following the Government of India’s social distancing norms.
Tobacco products kill more than 8 million people every year globally; in India, over 1.3 million deaths can be attributed to tobacco use. Tobacco and related industries are trying to attract younger generations and we must empower them with the knowledge required to say no to tobacco. This is especially important right now as studies show that smokers have a higher risk for a severe case of COVID-19. WHO calls on all young people to join the fight to become a tobacco-free generation. Visit our campaign page https://www.who.int/india/events/world-no-tobacco-day-2020 to know more.
