As a part of the Vibrant Gujarat event, WHO Country Office for India co-hosted with the Government of Gujarat, a seminar, ‘Health for ALL – Leveraging Technology, Innovations and Enablers’ on 12 January 2015 at Gandhinagar

The inaugural session was addressed by Mr J. P. Nadda, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare; Mr Nitinbhai Patel, Minister of Health, Government of Gujarat; Mr Lov Verma, Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India and Dr Nata Menabde, WHO Representative to India.

Speaking about the seminar, Dr Menabde said, “The Vibrant Gujarat forum provides an ideal platform to deliberate on key policy issues, especially where involvement of others beyond the health sector is critical. We are delighted to have co-hosted with the government of Gujarat and other partners this important event to advance Universal Health Coverage agenda – an issue that is receiving attention of the government at the highest level and having global relevance."

“The seminar brought together voices of different stakeholders on how technology, innovation and enablers can be leveraged towards the goal of Health for ALL,” she added.

The seminar was also addressed by Mr Louis-Georges Arsenault, UNICEF Representative to India; experts from Johns Hopkins University, IIT, Indian Institute of Public Health; leading private sector healthcare providers, pharma companies and IT companies. Another distinguished speaker was Honourable Dipika Damerla, Member of the Provincial Parliament for Mississauga East-Cooksville, Canada.

Others who attended the seminar were senior government officials both from central and state government, public health specialists and academicians.
