Workshop Held to Finalize Standard Operating Procedures for Emergency Medical Team

Dhulikhel, Bagmati Province – The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), with support from WHO, Country Office for Nepal, conducted a two-day workshop to finalize the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Emergency Medical Teams (EMT). Stakeholders from the MoHP, Department of Health Services, Sukraraj Tropical Disease Hospital, Trauma Center, Bir Hospital, and Dhulikhel Hospital, provided additional feedback in the SOP draft, which was developed during the WHO-supported National Workshop on EMT in June 2023, aligning with the recommendations received during various high-level conferences on emergency preparedness and response to strengthen and capacitate EMTs and its deployment mechanisms. The finalized draft will now be sent to MoHP for endorsement. The finalisation workshop was conducted with support from the EU Humanitarian Aid. WHO has been involved in supporting the government from the inception of EMT to its current operational phase and will continue to promote the institutionalization of EMT across the country.
