Kathmandu, Bagmati province – The Health Emergency Disaster Management Unit (HEDMU), under the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), and WHO Country Office for Nepal, held a launch programme to disseminate the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs) Mobilization in Nepal. Over 70 high-level officials from the MoHP, hub hospital, provincial government and security forces; national experts and EMT focal persons were in attendance. This document will enhance the timeliness and quality of health services, strengthening our national health system's ability to lead and coordinate rapid response efforts in the wake of disasters, outbreaks, and other emergencies, and marks a significant step in strengthening Nepal's emergency preparedness and response. Participants were also oriented on EMTs deployment framework and post-deployment monitoring and evaluation. WHO will now support the MoHP to organize orientation programmes of the SOPs in selected provinces. The programme was supported by the European Commission.
