1-3 April | Kathmandu, Bagmati Province - The Epidemiology and Diseases Control Division, under the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), held a three-day workshop titled the National Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) Mass Drug Administration (MDA) Review and Strategic Planning Meeting. Supported by WHO, Country Office for Nepal, the meeting aimed to gather insights from stakeholders related to key challenges and best practices to develop strategies for the upcoming MDA campaign. Over 50 stakeholders, including high-level MoHP officials, mayors, provincial health directors, and representatives from District Health Offices and partner organizations participated in the workshop. Participants provided recommendations to strengthen the campaign, while emphasizing the importance of reaching marginalized and migrant populations and effectively engaging non-compliant groups. 16 municipalities and rural municipalities were also felicitated for achieving high MDA coverage in the previous campaign. This year’s campaign is set to start on 28 April 2024 in 4 provinces (Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Lumbini), covering 7 districts (Jhapa, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Rasuwa, and Kapilvastu).
