8 May, 14 May and 3 June | Karnali, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces – The Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC), Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), has successfully conducted three provincial cross-sectoral stakeholders' tabletop exercises, with support from WHO Country Office for Nepal, in Karnali, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces. Over 160 stakeholders from MoHP, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, provincial Ministry of Health, Emergency Operation Centers, district administration offices, municipalities, UN agencies, health partners and development partners participated in the exercises. Given Nepal's susceptibility to disasters, the exercise evaluated the coordination and information flow between provincial health sectors, and following the exercises, experts from MoHP, with WHO support, provided recommendations to enhance health sector response and bolster mutual accountability. These activities were financially supported by the European Commission. WHO will continue to support MoHP and partners to strengthen Nepal's preparedness activities to address the health needs arising from disasters and public health emergencies.
