Sudurpashchim Province – WHO, Country Office Nepal, handed over a newly built Provincial Health Emergency Operation Center (PHEOC) in Dhangadhi to the Ministry of Health and Population, which was subsequently handed over to the Province Health Directorate in Sudurpashchim Province. This is the second fully furnished PHEOC in the province, capacitated with state-of-the-art telecommunication technology, built with WHO support. In line with the requirements under the International Health Regulations, the PHEOC will collaborate with the other PHEOC (in Doti) and HEOC at the federal level to strengthen timely communication and coordination mechanisms for effective preparedness, readiness, and response during public health emergencies. With this, WHO has supported the installation of permanent HEOCs in all seven provinces of Nepal.
