8 January | Surkhet, Karnali Province – As part of the ongoing earthquake response in the affected district of Karnali Province and curb potential outbreaks of vector-borne diseases, WHO, Country Office for Nepal, handed over 1500 Rapid Diagnostic Test Kits for dengue and scrub typhus each to the Provincial Health Logistics Management Center in Karnali Province. The center will distribute the kits to municipalities, where it will ensure access to diagnosis and enable case management, as well as prevention and control activities. WHO will assess the utilization of these kits at the local levels and hospitals, with a particular focus on areas where cases are prevalent. This is especially crucial, given the disrupted healthcare infrastructures and increased vulnerability to vector-borne diseases, following the earthquake.
