Progress Report on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Launched
The first UHC report, following the decision of the 71st session of the Regional Committee to produce an annual update until 2030, shows that service coverage has improved in all member states of WHO South-East Region (SEAR) since 2010. However, the key message in this year’s report is that there is a need to accelerate progress to reach the SDG targets by 2030.
Report also provides a snapshot of frontline health services in the SEAR for the first time. As reflected by the Astana Declaration, 2018 was the year of renewed commitment to primary health care – a theme picked up on at the year’s World Health Day.
With such availability and accumulation of data, policy makers will be able to assess whether their policies are working as intended.
