
8-9 October | Kathmandu, Bagmati Province - Over 100 representatives from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, Central Veterinary Laboratory, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Nepal Armed Police Force, provincial governments and health directorates, and hub hospitals participated in a two-day workshop to identify areas for cross-sectoral collaboration to strengthen the health emergency preparedness in Nepal. The workshop, organized by MoHP, and supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and WHO, Country Office for Nepal, provided a roadmap for future collaboration between public health and security agencies, mapped cross-sectoral capacities and capabilities corresponding to the International Health Regulation core capacities, identified the need for development or review of relevant policies, and plans for conducting joint activities. WHO remains committed to support the implementation of the provided roadmap for public health emergency preparedness and readiness in Nepal.
