8-11 April | Gaidakot, Gandaki Province – The Department of Water Supply and Sewerage Management, under the Minister of Water Supply, and WHO Country Office for Nepal organized a training to develop climate-resilient water safety plans (CR-WSP) for water supply systems and ensure the delivery of safe water from catchments to communities. 20 water quality test kits were also handed over to the trainees to enhance their capacity for regular water quality monitoring in their community. 41 participants, including members from Water and Sanitation Users Committees (WUSC), municipalities, and health officials from six provinces, were trained in developing and implementing the CR-WSP and proper use of the kits to strengthen community-based monitoring. Following the training, participants pledged to implement the plans, commit to regularly monitor the water quality, and maintain regular recording and reporting of results. WHO will continue to support the development and implementation of the CR-WSP, in accordance with the National Drinking Water Quality Standards 2079.
