15 – 17 August | Lalitpur, Bagmati Province – Thirty-two healthcare workers, from selected hospitals in Kathmandu, participated in a capacity-building workshop on Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) Point Prevalence Survey and its data collection software. Following the workshop, organized by the Nursing and Social Security Division (NSSD), Bir and Dhulikhel Hospital will conduct the survey in coordination with NSSD and WHO and under the leadership of Quality Standard and Regulation Division. This is part of a global effort where Nepal was selected from the WHO South-East Asia Region. This study aims to validate new HAI case definitions and support capacity building in HAI surveillance methods. The case definitions will aid in the understanding of HAI status of selected hospitals, establish national HAI surveillance programs, and inform on HAI policy and governance.
