National IHR-Performance of Veterinary Services Bridging Workshop Held

Participants from the National International Health Regulations-Performance of Veterinary Services Bridging Workshop held in Bagmati Province, Nepal

19-21 March | Kathmandu, Bagmati Province - Over 70 multidisciplinary stakeholders from animal health, human health, food safety, environment, security, and non-government sectors and partners participated in the International Health Regulations-Performance of Veterinary Services National Bridging Workshop, organized by the Federal One Health Technical Coordination Committee, Government of Nepal. Participants reviewed strengths and weaknesses in their collaborative efforts to address transdisciplinary concerns in Nepal using five disease scenarios. Following the review, participants developed prioritized activities to be included in the One Health roadmap to mobilize strategic investments to strengthen synergy and intersectoral collaboration to prevent, detect, and control these concerns. Specified areas, including coordination, communication, field investigation and response, surveillance and laboratory, and human resources, will be prioritized and considered in a national One Health action plan. The workshop is technically supported by the World Health Organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), and financially supported by USAID and the People’s Republic of China.
