Kathmandu, Bagmati Province - To kickstart World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW), the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) with support from WHO and FAO, organized an interaction program with journalists. Dr Madan Kumar Upadhyay, Chief of Quality Standards and Regulation Division at MoHP, delivered a presentation on the global and national overview of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and Nepal's initiatives to address AMR. In his remarks, Dr Rajesh Pandav, WHO Representative to Nepal, highlighted the role of media in disseminating correct information about AMR, including the importance of appropriate usage of antibiotics. Embracing the theme "Preventing AMR together", the event saw participation from representatives of human, animal, food, and environmental health. WAAW is celebrated from 18-24 November every year.
