21-23 May | Kathmandu, Bagmati province – The Department of Drug Administration (DDA), Ministry of Health and Population, with support from WHO organized a three-day training workshop in Kathmandu, Nepal, to train local pharmaceutical manufacturers on current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) - an aspect of quality assurance to ensure that medicines are consistently produced and controlled to the required quality standards. The workshop enhanced the capacity of over 65 officials from DDA, National Medicines Laboratory and GMP-certified pharmaceutical manufacturers to improve access to safe, effective and quality-assured medical products in Nepal. They were also oriented on the WHO Prequalification procedure for continuous quality improvement. WHO will continue to support DDA in ensuring local pharmaceutical production meets international standards of quality, safety and efficacy.
