Training of Trainers on Ambulance Driver held

21-23 August | Butwal, Lumbini Province - The National Health Training Centre (NHTC), Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), with support from WHO Country Office for Nepal, organized a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on Ambulance Driver Training in Lumbini Province. Sixteen healthcare workers were trained to further instruct ambulance drivers across Nepal, thereby enhancing the country's pre-hospital care system. Participants were introduced to the Ambulance Driver training package, which includes first aid, basic life support, ambulance disinfection, traffic rules and an orientation on the Nepal Ambulance app and guidelines. This initiative is part of a broader objective to strengthen pre-hospital care for resilient health-care system in the country, addressing the critical need for skilled ambulance drivers. It also aligns with the National Ambulance Guideline 2021, which mandates training for ambulance drivers to ensure the timely and effective transport of acutely ill and injured patients to health-care facilities. The training was supported by the European Union.
