Master Training of Trainers on Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2024 Held

The Family Welfare Division, Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population, with support from WHO, Country Office for Nepal, held a master training of trainers for immunization focal persons from the provincial Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Health and Population, Ministry of Social Development and Health, Provincial Health Directorates, and Provincial Health Logistic Management Centers on nationwide measles-rubella (MR) vaccination campaign. Participants discussed strategies for MR elimination by 2026 and were briefed on the objectives and implementation of the campaign, which includes strengthening Nepal's overall routine immunization program.

These master trainers will support to conduct planning workshops and trainings at the provincial level involving representatives from District Health Offices, Health Section staff of all 753 municipalities, and health facilities in-charge of 8,178 health facilities. Further, around 18,000 vaccinators responsible for vaccinating approximately 5.7 million eligible children will be trained, and approximately 60,000 volunteers, including Female Community Health Volunteers, will be oriented on the campaign to support the vaccinators during the vaccination sessions and social mobilization activities.

The nationwide MR vaccination campaign is being conducted from 25 February to 20 March 2024.
