Following one minute of silence in memory of the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Nepal launched the COVID-19 vaccination drive reaching health workers and frontline workers in all seven provinces.
At the inaugural ceremony, the Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr K.P. Sharma Oli, launched the drive at the press of a button. All seven provinces, connected virtually, showed health workers being vaccinated.
The Honourable Prime Minister addressed the nation and highlighted the importance of first protecting the frontline workers and health workers in the presence of dignitaries, Indian ambassador to Nepal, and the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to Nepal, Dr Rajesh Sambhajirao Pandav. The Honourable Minister of Health and Population, Mr Hridayesh Tripathi, explained that the prioritization for vaccination was made following the recommendations of the WHO.

स्वास्थ्यकर्मी तथा अग्रपंक्तिमा खटिएका कर्मचारीहरूका लागि नेपालमा देशव्यापी खोप कार्यक्रम शुरू
कोभिड—१९का कारणले ज्यान गुमाएका बिरामीहरूको सम्झनामा एक मिनेटको मौनधारणपछि, नेपाल सरकाले आज बिहान १० बजे सबै सातैवटा प्रदेशमा रहेका स्वास्थ्यकर्मी तथा अग्रपंक्तिमा खटिने कर्मचारीहरूका लागि कोभिड—१९ विरुद्धको खोप कार्यक्रमको शुरुवात गरेको छ ।
उद्घाटन समारोहमा उपस्थिति सम्माननीय प्रधानमन्त्री श्री केपी शर्मा ओलीले बटन थिचेर खोप कार्यक्रमको शुरूवात गर्नुभएको थियो । सातैवटा प्रदेशमा रहेका स्वास्थ्यकर्मीहरूलाई खोप लगाउँदै गरेको प्रत्यक्ष प्रसारण पनि उक्त कार्यक्रममा देखाइएको थियो ।
विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठनका प्रतिनिधि डा. राजेश संभाजीराव पाण्डव तथा नेपालका लागि भारतीय राजदूतको उपस्थिति रहेको कार्यक्रममा सम्माननीय प्रधानमन्त्रीले राष्ट्रको नाममा सम्बोधन गर्नुभयो र अग्रपंक्तिमा खटिने कर्मचारी तथा स्वास्थ्यकर्मीहरूलाई शुरूमा सुरक्षित बनाइनुपर्ने कुराको महत्वका बारेमा प्रकाश पार्नुभयो ।
कार्यक्रमलाई सम्बोधन गर्दै माननीय स्वास्थ्य तथा जनसङ्ख्या मन्त्री हृदयेश त्रिपाठीले खोपको लागि प्राथमिकता निर्धारण विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठनको सिफारिसअनुसार गरिएको बताउनुभयो ।
