Kathmandu, Bagmati province – The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and WHO Nepal organized a two-day workshop to draft a national plan on promoting health equity for persons with disabilities from 11-12 March. The document will help governments build disability inclusive health systems and address barriers faced by persons with disabilities and ensure their meaningful participation in health-care services, in line with national and international commitments. Over 50 participants, including government officials, UN agencies, civil society organizations such as the National Federation of the Disabled and the National Disabled Fund, disability rights advocates, and health workers contributed to the discussions. The workshop focused on integrating disability-inclusive strategies into existing health policies and operational plans, and improving cross-sector collaboration. WHO remains committed to integrating disability-inclusive policies into national frameworks and developing a robust monitoring and evaluation system. This initiative is supported by the United Nations Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD).
