Kathmandu, Bagmati province - The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and WHO Country Office for Nepal observed World Alzheimer’s Day, focusing on raising awareness, fostering dialogue and mobilizing action under the theme, "Time to Act on Dementia, Time to Act on Alzheimer's." Presentations highlighted the growing prevalence of Alzheimer’s and dementia in Nepal’s growing aging population, the importance of early intervention, challenges in diagnosis and care, and the need for a national strategy. Personal testimonials emphasized the emotional and practical challenges faced by caregivers. Discussions explored gaps in awareness, treatment, and community-based support, particularly in rural areas. WHO will continue to support partners in raising awareness, advocating for stronger policies and improving access to care and support for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.
