27-28 December | Kathmandu, Bagmati Province – A review of the National Leprosy Elimination and Disability Management Program was held under the leadership of Leprosy Control and Disability Management Section, EDCD, with participation from national and subnational stakeholders. The program was organized with the support from WHO, Country Office for Nepal. The strengths and gaps of the program were identified, and stakeholders provided recommendations aimed at achieving the goal of eliminating leprosy at the sub-national level in Nepal by 2030. WHO will now support MoHP to accelerate active case detection of leprosy, develop and strengthen case-based reporting for the leprosy program, and scale up the single-dose rifampicin post-exposure prophylaxis (DSR-PEP) program at high endemic areas.
