Kathmandu, Bagmati Province – Hon’ble Minister and State Minister from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP); senior officials from the MoHP and provincial governments; experts of technical committees on immunization; and partners reviewed the status of COVID-19 vaccinations, routine immunization, and the ongoing measles-rubella outbreak preparedness and response during a high-level meeting organized by Family Welfare Division, Department of Health Services. While Nepal has achieved high vaccination coverage, stakeholders highlighted the role of local governments in improving booster dose coverage and further strengthening routine immunization, along with other strategies to improve equitable vaccine coverage. As of 17 January 2023, the Government of Nepal has vaccinated 82.48% of Nepal’s total population with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 82.55% with full dose/second dose.
