Antimalarial drug resistance has emerged in recent years as a threat to global malaria control efforts, particularly in the Greater Mekong subregion. The much-anticipated Report on antimalarial drug efficacy, resistance and response: 10 years of surveillance (2010–2019) will present a decade’s worth of data on drug efficacy and surveillance and recommendations to protect the efficacy of malaria treatments in the decades to come.
To mark the launch of this report, as well as this year’s World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW), the Global Malaria Programme (GMP) is hosting a webinar on 19 November 2020 from 14:00–15:00 CET.
Speakers from GMP, the Department of Global Coordination and Partnership of the WHO Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Division, and the National Malaria Control Programme in Cambodia, among others, will highlight global and country-level perspectives on antimalarial drug resistance, as well as actions needed to prevent its spread.
