On 25 February 2021, El Salvador was officially certified by WHO as malaria-free. The certification follows more than 50 years of commitment by the Salvadoran Government and people to ending the disease in a country with dense population and geography hospitable to malaria.
Experts from El Salvador’s Ministry of Health, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and WHO will comment on El Salvador’s path to certification during a Facebook Live session on Friday, 26 February at 11am EST/5pm CET. The discussion will be held in Spanish with simultaneous translation provided in English. You can join the discussion through the PAHO/WHO Facebook page.
