#HeroesEndingPolio

Armando & Edgardo,
barangay leaders

When we visited Brgy. Masagana in Dilasag, Aurora, Kagawads Armando and Edgardo were accompanying the vaccinators as they went from house-to-house. A bandillo (mobile public address system), arranged by the kagawads, closely followed the team.

Local leaders are among our #HeroesEndingPolio; they are community influencers who convince parents and caregivers in having their children vaccinated with polio drops.

“As leaders of Brgy. Masagana, we are wholeheartedly supporting the anti-polio campaign, to ensure that our children will not suffer disability and avoid possible death.

We announced the campaign in the community via loudspeakers; we put up posters, so that the barangay will know about the program. We accompany our health workers in house to house visits to look for children below five years old. We support our health workers by giving them snacks and food.

We will continue to support the next round, so that every child in our barangay will be immunized.

We call on our community to support the government program to end polio and take care of their children.”

"As leaders of Brgy. Masagana, we are wholeheartedly supporting the anti-polio campaign, to ensure that our children will not suffer disability…  We will also continue to support the next round, to ensure that every child in our barangay will be immunized."
