#HeroesEndingPolio

Daisy, Rotarian

Daisy is one of the many Rotarians volunteering in the polio campaign in the Philippines. We caught up with her when she joined one of the vaccination teams in Marikina City.

“Our role at the Rotary is to end polio. Even though I’m a busy grandmother, I always make time for this. I said, nothing is impossible, I will come to this because I want to.

You know what, it’s satisfying. At the age of 60 years old, they think I’ll just be at home. But for me at this stage, I still want to live a meaningful life.

So we’re going house-to-house for the polio campaign. We can touch the lives of children. I am enjoying myself. There’s fatigue, there’s difficulty, there’s hunger, but in the end, it’s very fulfilling to be able to serve.

At the Rotary, we will continue to keep our promise of ‘service above self’, and whatever it takes, we will fulfil our motto.

My wish is for all children to be saved by receiving the drops so that we will no longer have a polio problem in the Philippines.”
