Healthy Space Next Door

a toolkit for healthy community design

Overview

Exercise improves our physical and mental health. We are all well aware of this. Yet, only a handful of us incorporate exercise into our daily routine, mostly because our willpower struggles to compete with unavoidable obstacles to engaging in fun physical activities. A long commute from our house to the nearest public park is demotivating enough. Discovering a long waiting queue for the sporting ground or equipment only frustrates us further. Opting for exercise at home understandably comes with its own limitations, such as inadequate space and the lack of friendly faces found in team sports. Sometimes the level of commitment and effort required gives us the justification to throw in the towel before we even start.
